Mr Ross took the oath to His Majesty as the House of Commons returned after the period of national mourning following the passing of Her Late Majesty the Queen.

Just after 11.20am, Mr Ross was called forward to take the oath, as he promised to be loyal His Majesty.

He had previously sworn allegiance to the Queen upon being elected as Moray’s MP in 2017 and again when he was re-elected at the 2019 General Election.

Mr Ross said: “It was a huge honour to return to the House of Commons and take the oath to His Majesty.

“King Charles has shown great leadership since the passing of his mother and united the country at what was a hugely difficult time for him and the whole Royal Family.

“It had been a hugely humbling experience to swear allegiance to Her Late Majesty the Queen on two occasions as a MP before and this was no different.

“I was proud to take the oath to King Charles III and promise to uphold his values while continuing to serve the people of Moray as their Member of Parliament.”
