River Spey body is missing Highland woman

THE identity of a body found in the River Spey has been confirmed as that of a missing Highlands woman.

Police have confirmed that the body of Ms Ullmer has been found.

Jacqueline Ullmer (60) had been missing from her Carrbridge home since the end of August. Rescue teams recovered her body from near the mouth of the Spey on Tuesday, October 22.

Detective inspector Donnie MacDonald said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Jacqueline and we are supporting them through this difficult time.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who've assisted us in this extensive inquiry."

Her family launched an emotional appeal for information last month.

They have been informed about her body being discovered.

Ms Ullmer was last seen around 1.30am on August 31, at her home in Station Road.

In a statement issued by her family, they said: “Mum has been missing for over a month now and every day that goes by we are becoming increasingly worried. We are desperate to know what has happened.

“Mum, if you’re reading this, please know that we all love and miss you so much and just want you home safe.

“Mum is a positive and bubbly person who loves to chat to everyone...

“The support from friends, family and the local community has been incredible and we are so grateful. We are truly thankful to the emergency services for their continued efforts.”

Police had also appealed for dash-cam footage from August 30 or the morning of August 31 and private CCTV to trace Ms Ullmer's movements in the search for her.
