Quarriers have announced the launch of the Moray Children’s Rights Service, which will open on October 16.

The charity is well versed in children’s rights, as it has a duplicate service based in Falkirk. The aim of both services is to empower children and young people from ages 0-18, and their families, to be aware of their rights and how to put them into practice.

The service will cover a range of subjects and issues, including advocacy, children's hearings, child protection and accessing a lawyer, among many more.

Linda Weir, who is the Senior Children’s Rights Participation Worker at the new service, said: “Moray Children's Rights Service is a charity organisation working alongside children, young people and their families.

"We help to promote, protect and uphold children and young people's rights ensuring your family’s voice is heard and at the heart of decisions that affect you.

“If you want to know more about your rights and how we can support you or your family, we can help.”

Quarriers will be holding two launch events, one for professionals working with children and another for children and families. The latter drop-in event will be held on Thursday, October 12 between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at The Warehouse, Elgin Youth Cafe, Francis Place, Elgin IV30 1LQ. Refreshments will be provided.

For more information on the new service, please visit, Moray Children's Rights Service or telephone (01343) 611411.
