Run by the local community association and community council, an afternoon of fun for all the family is planned on Sunday, May 7 at the McBoyle Hall and McLeod Park.

Festivities get under way at 12 noon with food and drink aplenty, along with live music from local music group The Cool Jam Cats, a chocolate tombola, face painting, exotic animals, bouncy castles, a fancy dress parade with prizes and a bottle stall among the many attractions.

The event is scheduled to run until around 4pm.

The same afternoon in Cullen the spotlight will be on the Hall Church when a coronation tea and quiz, including entertainment from The Singing Bobby, will be held from 2pm. Admission is by ticket only, which can be bought for £6 from church elders, the local mini-mart or by phoning Rachael Shearer on (01542) 840525.

The Fishermen's Hall in Buckie is set to hold two major celebrations – A Blast from the Past event featuring memorabilia and the like on the Saturday and an indoor street party the following day. Proceeds from these events will be donated to Clan Moray and the Oaks palliative care unit in Elgin. Meanwhile, in Fochabers, a Recycled Summer event in the Public Institute will take place on both Sunday and Monday.

The community in Findochty are planning to run celebrations over both the Saturday and Sunday, while in Portgordon a picnic at the harbour is planned on Monday, May 8 around lunchtime. Details and timings for both those events are still to be confirmed as of the time of writing.
