A NETHERHA care home resident has taken to verse to voice her support for Buckie Thistle ahead of their Scottish Cup clash with Celtic.

Barbara Bowie has penned a short Doric poem to mark the Jags' historic tie at Parkhead on Sunday, which will see around 5000 Buckie fans descend on Glasgow for what promises to be the game of a lifetime for the Victoria Park men.

Barbara's poem reads: "The Buckie Jags are on their way;

"To play the Bhoys in green the day.

"Bathe teams they wear the hoops.

"Green in fight they jump throo hoops.

"The fans will travel the Mayne way;

"Ti watch the game on the day.

"Ance in a lifetime we see thum play;

"At Parkheed oor dream will stay.

"Mon the Jags, we ah cheer;

"Fan we watch the Scottish Cup so near.

"So raise a glass tae oor Buckie lads;

"And watch the game we a bit oh class."

Other residents have not been shy to show their support for the Jags, with the windows of the home's social area decked out in Buckie Thistle strips, footballs, pennants and good luck messages to the team. There is no excuse for missing the display at night, either, with the windows lit up bright green.
