The three week long festival is a national celebration that takes place every year to promote the positive effects of learning together as a family. This year’s theme was to inspire a love of shared learning through curiosity.

Over the festival there was lots of engagement from Moray families who took part in lots of different activities, including science experiments, such as Lego Racers, Magnet Maze, Raising Raisins, Noisy Neighbours and creating a Marshmallow Spaghetti Tower.

In the final week, the Royal Air Force STEM team also delivered an amazing rocket session and Active Schools put on some fun sports activities within the schools.

The team provided an opportunity for feedback at the events with sticky notes, and received positive feedback such as:

“Really good, we liked the different tasks for different ages.”, “This was really fun, do it every Wednesday all year!” and “Very funny and interesting learning sessions, we loved it.”.

Additionally, a survey has been issued to gain more specific feedback to help understand what worked well for future events.

Moray Council's Adult and Family Learning Officer said: “We are extremely happy with how the family learning festival went and received some positive comments from families that attended the events. We are continuing to actively seek feedback from these families about what they would like to see from future events.”
