Findochty Town Hall's return to community ownership will be celebrated with a special open evening.

Following the granting of a Community Asset Transfer application by Moray Council, the facility has been handed from local authority control. the transfer was finalised on July 21, the original request having been submitted on February 18, 2020.

The hall was one of a number earmarked for closure by the council in 2018 as part of wider cash saving measures, which prompted the community to band together and take over the lease for the building.

Friday, September 23 will see all invited to celebrate the reopening of the hall under community ownership, with Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire Andrew Simpson set to declare it officially open.

The hall will be open from 5pm and a slide show with old photos will be on display in the Seaview Room from 5.45 to 6.45pm.

Graham Cryer the chair of the trustees will welcome the Lord Lieutenant, invited guests and the community at 7pm.

Pamela Ross, the secretary of the trustees, will then give a short presentation on the timeline of the CAT followed by the Lord Lieutenant who will give an address on the return of the hall.
