WORLD Book Day at Buckie Community High School took on a novel twist as the event celebrated its 25th anniversary worldwide.

Some sleuthing with the aid of jars was the order of the day, as the school's librarian Stephen Leitch explained.

"At BCHS we had Books in a Jar competition where pupils had to look at the clues in jars to work out the name of the books.

"This proved a great hit with pupils and staff!

"We also had an S1 book quiz which I compiled and was run through the English classes."

Mr Leitch's World Book Day services were required slightly further afield when, the following day, he was invited across the road to Cluny Primary to judge the school's classroom door book cover competition.

After declaring P6/7L and P2Mthe winners in the senior and junior sections respectively, he also chatted to the pupils about his role as a librarian and his favourite books before rounding off the visit with a book extract reading at the school's virtual assembly.
