THERE was a warm welcome at Findochty Primary for the return of the school nativity play.

Covid restrictions in place over the course of the last two years have meant that the traditional Christmas story had to be left untold – at least on the stage – but it was back to normal for youngsters at the school.

A lot of hard work and practice came together when pupils staged their nativity on Thursday, December 22. It made for a fitting end of term for the pupils and staff as they went on their much-needed Christmas holidays.

In an enchanting performance, there was to be no room at the inn for a very weary Joseph and Mary as the story unfolded in front of the school.

A stable was to be the birthplace of the baby Jesus and a manger His bed.

The production featured a host of angels spreading the good news to the shepherds.

No nativity would be complete, of course, without the appearance of the Three Wise Men – traditionally heading to Bethlehem from the east – to deliver their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the infant.

The performance was very well received and will no doubt give encouragement for next Christmas's nativity show at the school.

There was also a welcome return this year for the usual school parties which had been another casualty of the Covid rules.
