Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Karen Adam (inset) is running a survey on local bus services in her constituency.

A NORTH-east MSP has launched a digital public opinion survey looking at the community’s views and satisfaction with the local bus service.

Since the survey went live on Monday evening, over 5500 individual responses have been received from over 500 individual respondents.

The survey will remain open until 7pm on March 18 and can be accessed at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/BUS-SERVICE-BBC/

Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Karen Adam and her office team have been dealing with many casework enquires regarding issues with the bus service in her constituency.

Ms Adam recently held a public meeting in her office regarding the bus service. Over 30 members of the public attended, and Stagecoach was invited to hear directly from its customers and service users.

While Stagecoach were unable to attend the public meeting, Ms Adam hopes senior executives will agree to meet to discuss the responses many of her constituents have taken the time to give to her survey on transport links across Banffshire and Buchan Coast.

She said: "I have been receiving a large volume of casework regarding the bus service in the area.

"I understand the strength of feeling; it's not good enough for people to cancel hospital appointments, be late for work or jeopardise college courses due to poor bus service.

"The survey gives the people of Banffshire and Buchan Coast the chance to have their say. The results will also help me, and my team better understand issues with the bus service and advocate for the people with Stagecoach. Public opinion is powerful in terms of affecting change. The more constituents who participate in the survey, the more power I will have behind my elbow in advocating on your behalf with Stagecoach."
