A MOTORCYCLIST has been left with serious injuries following a smash near Buckie.

The 29-year-old was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after his Suzuki GSXR bike collided with a purple Mazda car on the B9016 Buckie to Keith road at around 8pm on Sunday 23.

Traffic was diverted as the road was closed for seven hours to allow collision investigators to examine the scene, and police are appealing for witnesses to the accident.

Sergeant Jon Barron, the senior investigating officer, said: "Detailed enquiries are under way in order to establish the full circumstances of this serious collision. I would like to urge any potential witnesses to speak to us.

"In particular, the enquiry team is interested in speaking to anyone who witnessed the actual collision and anyone who saw either of the vehicles prior to the incident, or who may have been driving in the immediate area around the time."

Witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 or alternatively call in at their local police station.
