The cash forms part of an extra £50 million in funding from the Scottish Government for refurbishing local authority play parks across Scotland. It brings the total pot available to £60 million.

The additional funding will be allocated over the next three years. Moray Council is set to receive a total of £469,000 as part of its share of the £60 million investment, with £188,000 allocated to Moray for this financial year.

Moray MSP Richard Lochhead MSP has warmly welcomed the announcement of the additional funding.

He said: “Outdoor play and access to high quality play areas is hugely important for the development and wellbeing of our children.

"Playing outdoors not only has benefits for their physical health but their mental health, too.

“I’m delighted that Moray is set to benefit from this investment by the Scottish Government in Scotland’s play parks and I look forward to hearing more about how Moray Council intends to use this funding to benefit children and communities across Moray.”
