MORAY MSP Richard Lochhead has welcomed funding aiming to help get people involved in sport.

Sport Scotland's Sports Facilities Fund (SFF) supports projects aiming to provide opportunities for people to get involved in and participate in sport and physical activity.

The fund supports capital projects that create or improve places where people take part in sport and physical activity.

Mr Lochhead MSP said: “This is a welcome potential source of funding for local clubs and sports groups at a time when finances across the board are under pressure.

“We have so many excellent sports clubs and voluntary groups in Moray who could perhaps access this funding source for projects which get people involved in sports.

“I would encourage any interested local groups to have a look and see if they can benefit.”

The fund is looking for projects that can clearly demonstrate an inclusive approach that targets participants in/from Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation areas or areas of rural disadvantage, those with additional needs, or those from ethnically diverse communities or other protected characteristics, as identified in The Equalities Act 2010, will be prioritised.
