FUNDING for projects benefitting the people of Moray is now available thanks to the new Moray Local Action Fund.
The fund, supported by a Scottish Government grant for community led local development in Moray, will be overseen by Moray’s Local Action Group (LAG.)
Chair of the LAG, Alastair Kennedy says the new fund is about funding grassroots community action.
He commented: "Communities know what needs to be done in their area, but much of the time, they haven’t been able to access traditional funding.
"This fund is changing that. We want communities to lead the change they want to see in their own area."
The fund will support community-led activity in three key areas:
- Covid recovery – For projects helping a just and green renewal of Moray’s economy and/or communities following the challenges of the last two years.
- Net Zero and the climate emergency – For projects that help Moray move toward a carbon-neutral future.
- Rural poverty – For projects helping to tackle rural poverty in Moray, particularly those with a specific focus on addressing fuel poverty.
The fund has £175,000 to give out. Projects with costs of £5000 to maximum of £30,000 will be considered under the fund’s main grant scheme, while projects applying for less than £5000 can apply under the fund’s small grants scheme. Funding can be used to support either or both revenue and/or capital expenditure.
The fund will be officially launched at the Meet the Funders event, this Thursday at Elgin Town Hall, running from 10am to 3pm. Anyone interested in knowing more about the fund can also book a free place to the event here.
The deadline for completed funding applications is 5pm on Monday, December 5.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their ideas with a member of the Moray LAG team by contacting ourfuture@tsimoray.org.uk before applying. The team can advise on project eligibility as well as support applicants through the application process.
