Mixed week for Buckie Harbour landings

THERE was a slight fall in the quantity of fish, prawns and squid brought ashore at Buckie Harbour last week.

In all, some 498 boxes were brought to the quayside. This is down from 566 boxes the week before.

Meanwhile there was a dramatic drop in the number of bags of clams taken to the quayside, with just 63 recorded last week.

This is significantly down on the previous seven-day period, during which 422 bags came off the boats.

Fewer vessels brought their catches ashore, nine as opposed to 16.

The boats were: Our May; Flourish; Deeside; Lily Oak VI; Boy Sam; Amaryha; Friendly Isle; Chloe Ella; Summerton.

A single cargo vessel moored at Buckie Harbour last week, the British-registered MV Victress. She imported 2361.14 tonnes of salt from Kilroot on October 24 before subsequently sailing light to the North Sea for orders on October 26.

The week before saw no cargo boats visit Buckie.
