A COMMITMENT to helping shape young minds over the last 175 years is at the heart of a brand new book which has just been launched.

The book chronicles the history of Milne's Primary School right up to their most recent initiatives. Entitled 175 Years of Education at Milne's, the 150 page full colour volume documents the good work of the school with photographs and samples of work from each pupil.

Through fundraising efforts and support from the Parent Council, a free copy of the book was given to each pupil to keep as a memento.

School headteacher, Kim Karam, said the project was enjoyed by all year groups.

She continued: “We are so lucky to have managed to see this book come to fruition in such a challenging year.

"Everyone is so proud to see their work in print – from Primary 1 to Primary 7. We hope the book is available to purchase online soon but, until then, we have copies available to buy.

"If anyone is interested, please contact us at the school. It would also make a great gift for anyone with links to our community.”

The book is the latest in a rolling series of celebrations and events since the school entered its landmark year on November 16, 2021. These included a special exhibition and a featuring on Keith Community Radio.

A hazel tree was also planted in the school grounds to mark the 175th anniversary of the school.
