Large jump in Buckie Harbour fish landings

THERE was a three-fold rise in the number of boxes of fish landed at Buckie Harbour last week.

Ten vessels brought ashore 672 boxes of fish/prawns/squid and no bags of clams. This compares to 212 boxes and no bags the week before.

The boats bringing their catches to the quayside were: Ocean Rose; Chloe Ella; Deeside; Lily Oak VI; Boy Sam; Pegasus; Our May; Endeavour; Brantia; Radiance.

Two cargo vessels called at Buckie last week.

On July 21 the Dutch-registered MV Amadeus Aquamarijn docked, importing 2198.74 tonnes of malt from King's Lynn. She sailed light to Antwerp three days later.

On July 24, another Dutch boat, the MV Anita arrived and imported 1827.92 tonnes of malt from Hamburg before exporting 2445.820 tonnes of pebbles/cobblestones to Groveport on July 28.
