OMICRON may be overshadowing much of the run up to the festive season but one Buckie community group is determined to bring some festive cheer to the area.

This Wednesday will see Buckie Kindness Group hold a socially distanced Christmas carol singing session in Cluny Square from 6.30pm to around 7.15pm.

Song sheets will be available and anyone who can play an instrument will also be made most welcome.

Kindness Group chairman John Stuart said: "This is an informal gathering which will be socially distanced.

"We're hoping to bring a bit of cheeriness in the face of all the gloom going around at the moment.

"We'll be delighted to see you!"

Mr Stuart is also looking to give Santa a hand reaching out to those families who will have to self-isolate this Christmas due to Covid.

He added: "I managed to get hold of a Santa suit so I'll be making socially distanced visits to families who're self-isolating to drop off some presents.

"I've been made aware of 30 so far who I'll be visiting on Tuesday but I'm hoping to do another run on Friday. If you're family is self-isolating or you know one which is and would like socially distanced visit from Santa, get in touch by the end of Thursday through the Buckie Kindness Group Facebook page."
