Keiran's Legacy, which raises cash to provide automated external defibrillators, will be holding a drop-in session at the Laich Moray Hotel in Elgin on Saturday, March 4 where people interesting in helping out at fundraising events can pop in for an informal chat and a cuppa.

The charity was established as a result of Keiran McKandie being involved in an accident with a car which resulted in being fatal at the scene on March 20, 2016 aged 16. He was taking part in downhill mountain biking that day, which was his passion.

His accident revealed that the nearest ambulance was 38 miles away.

Keiran's Legacy has collaborated with communities, public places, schools, sports facilities and emergency services throughout Scotland, thus enabling the provision of automated external defibrillators to be sited in these areas which increases the community resilience and enhances the chance of survival. The organisation has also persuaded Police Scotland to carry defibrillators in their fast response vehicles.

In addition to providing defibrillators, Keiran's Legacy also run training courses in their use in schools and throughout the wider community. To date over 1000 people have been trained and in excess of 60 defibrillators sited.

The drop-in is set to run from 12 noon until 3pm. Those interested in going are urged to PM the charity's Facebook page so an idea of numbers attending can be gauged.
