Based on the Sunday Times bestseller which inspired one of this century’s most treasured films, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel takes audiences on a journey to India with an eclectic group of British retirees as they embark on a new life. The luxury residence is far from the opulence they were promised, but as their lives begin to intertwine, they are charmed in unexpected and life-changing ways.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is a joyous comedy about taking risks, finding love and embracing second chances, even in the most surprising of places. Get ready for the journey of a lifetime.

The same evening over at the Lemon Tree will see Stornoway, Quebec performed. It's Quebec, 1888 and a snowstorm traps five people in a remote saloon. One of them is a bounty hunter. Another is the most wanted man in Canada.

To some, Donald Morrison, the Megantic Outlaw, was one of the most notorious villains of his day, but to the close-knit community of Gaelic migrants from Lewis, he was one of their own.

Hot on his heels is fearsome Barra woman, Màiri McNeill – a whisky-fuelled, pistol-slinging, bounty hunter. She has history and a score to settle.

The performance starts at 7pm. Tickets are £13.20, available from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, phone (01224) 641122 or visit the box office at His Majesty’s Theatre or the Music Hall.

Tribute band The Doors Alive 2023 will be heading to the Lemon Tree on Saturday, April 8. The Doors Alive is quite simply the most exciting, authentic, charismatic and (self-proclaimed) sexually magnetic tribute band to pay homage to 1960s rock titans The Doors. The band have worked tirelessly to achieve the same fluid, dark and heady sounds as The Doors at their psychedelic peak.

So let The Doors Alive Set Your Night On Fire, Swim You To The Moon, Love You Madly, make your day that little bit Stranger then drive you to the Road House, and When The Music’s Over, The Doors Alive will have broken you on through to the other side!

Over the weekend of April 7-8 the Music Hall Big Sky Studio will host the Loud Poets Master Class Workshop.

Join poets Kevin Mclean and Dr Katie Ailes of I Am Loud Productions, Scotland’s leading spoken word organisation for this workshop designed for new and developing writers; no previous experience of writing or performing poetry is required.

Over two days they will develop basic writing and performance techniques, including how to draft, edit, and rehearse poetry and the fundamentals of stagecraft. Spoken word poetry can be a powerful tool for sparking social change, so in these sessions they will focus on creating poetry that takes a stand.

Over the weekend the duo will support you to develop a new poem from scratch that expresses your beliefs: your own rallying cry. Then two weeks later, all participants will have the opportunity to perform their new poetry at a special showcase at the Music Hall (Saturday,April 22).

This masterclass takes place over a weekend so your ticket entitles you to attend both the Saturday and Sunday sessions.

The sessions start at 12 noon. Tickets cost £25 (£18 concessions), available from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, phone (01224) 641122 or visit the box office at His Majesty’s Theatre or the Music Hall.
