Injured paddleboarder sparks emergency response at Portknockie Harbour

EMERGENCY services were called to the aid of an injured paddleboarder at Portknockie Harbour.

The afternoon of Sunday, July 9 saw ambulance, Coastguard and the Buckie RNLI lifeboat attend after the paddleboarder suffered a dislocated knee.

A spokesman for Buckie RNLI said: "Buckie lifeboat was paged at 3.37pm to assist a paddleboarder with a dislocated knee at Portknockie Harbour.

"The lifeboat depart Buckie at 3.47pm which made best to Portknockie harbour for 4.05pm.

"On arrival, Buckie CRT [Coastguard Rescue Team] was on scene. Lifeboat crew carried out casualty care treatment for 15 minutes until the ambulance arrived. Fortunately that day we had two of our crew who work for the Scottish Ambulance Service available and were able to respond to the callout.

"Four of the lifeboat crew continued to assist the ambulance crew with casualty care after they arrived, with the casualty assisted into the ambulance at 4.40pm."

The RNLI spokesperson noted that the casualty care given by the crew had been "executed very well", adding that the lifeboat left Portknockie Harbour at 4.45pm arriving back at her moorings at 5pm.
