PEOPLE across the north-east who have given up smoking are being urged to share their experiences.

As part of the charity’s preparations for this year’s No Smoking Day on March 8, ASH Scotland is urging people to get in touch and tell their stories of personal journeys to give up smoking, and highlight the types of support they found to be most useful.

Sheila Duffy, Chief Executive of ASH Scotland, said: “Research shows that two thirds of adults in Scotland who smoke say they wish they had never started and want to quit.

“Ahead of No Smoking Day, we are keen to find out about...residents’ experiences in the last few years of making quit attempts and especially what motivated and helped them to give up smoking for good. We’d love to hear everyone’s inspirational stories, which could spur others into following their journeys towards a life free from tobacco.

“We are also interested in hearing about any challenges or barriers faced by people who haven’t yet managed to give up smoking, but are still aiming for a healthier future. We want to ensure people...are empowered to access all the tools needed to succeed with their decision to quit smoking and to encourage people not to give up if they’ve tried to quit smoking before.”

The charity is asking people to share stories up to a maximum of 200 words by emailing communications@ashscotland.org.uk or following the link on their website.

ASH Scotland is tackling tobacco head-on by playing a leading part in campaigning to reduce the harms caused by smoking. For more information, follow the health charity’s social media channels at www.instagram.com/ash.scotland and www.twitter.com/ASHScotland.
