A DONATION from a Scottish flooring retailer is helping young children at a Buckie school to learn through play.

Millbank Primary School approached Flooring Superstore to see if it would be willing to donate artificial grass for a new indoor ‘small world’ play area.

The retailer – which has over 40 stores across the UK, including one in Edinburgh and Glasgow – provided the grass as part of its corporate social responsibility programme, and the school is already seeing the benefits of the new area.

P1 teacher Beverley Lamont explained: “The children have loved incorporating the grass into their play; it has been the basis of a farm, dog playpark and a castle garden, to name just a few.

“Through small world play the children are able to act out real life scenarios, build on their language and communication skills, gain an understanding of the world around them and explore new materials.

“This donation is therefore really helping the children’s learning and we would like to thank Flooring Superstore for their support.”

Flooring Superstore regional manager Greig Anderson commented: “We were delighted to be able to help the school with a donation of artificial grass and to know that it’s having a positive impact on the children’s early education.

“The grass is hard wearing which is perfect when it’s being used regularly and unlike real grass it can easily be cleaned and maintained.”

Flooring Superstore is one of the UK’s leading flooring retailers. Established in 2012 as an online business, it now also has over 40 ‘bricks and mortar’ stores nationwide.

The company has a range of over 10,000 floor covering products offered by three brands – Flooring Superstore, Direct Wood Flooring and Grass Direct. Their in-house delivery network consists of 10 depots and over 100 vehicles, bringing their customers a fast, efficient, chosen-day delivery service.

The company is dedicated to their sustainability incentives; tree planting, protecting habitats, supporting communities and eco product development. For every customer order, they plant one tree and remove 25 grams of plastic from the ocean.

Since August 2020, they have planted over five million trees, removed over one million bottles from the ocean and protected over 29,000 acres of rainforest. Find out more at www.flooringsuperstore.com/positive-impacts
