A group of friends have raised nearly £3000 for charity after walking all the way from Burghead to Buckie.

Adele 'Del' Dunbar, her sister Bonnie, and pals Sophie Legg and Charlotte Hay walked 28.7 miles on the Saturday of the Kiltwalk weekend.

The footsore foursome admitted to very nearly "throwing in the towel" but they dug in deep to raise £2795 for Scottish Association for Mental Health.

At the end of their nine-hour epic journey they were greeted at the finishing line in Buckie by family and friends, plus some much-appreciated champagne courtesy of the Harbour Bar.

Del said: "It was a long way and it didn't really help that we ended up walking an extra 2.7 miles.

"We were following the Moray Coastal Trail but, due to the bridge at Lossie being shut, that meant walking through the forest – and we got a bit lost.

"Also, the stones on the beach between Kingston and Lossiemouth were a bit of a nightmare to walk on.

"Our hips were aching.

"One of the girls also got blisters so bad that she needed bandaging – she almost had a hole in her foot.

"It was a incredibly emotional moment when we finally arrived in Buckie and saw all the people who'd come out to cheer us back.

"We'd like to thank everyone for all their help and support. It's really appreciated."
