There will be more of a normal feel to this year's collection, with Covid restrictions meaning last year the firefighters could only raise money via an internet funding page, although they still went round local streets with Santa and a festively decorated fire engine.

Buckie fire station watch manager Colin Forbes said: "Being online only last year did hit our final total, although it was the busiest year ever in terms of people coming out to see us.

"With all the lockdowns and restrictions, I think it was a breath of fresh air and a sign that Christmas was coming. We're looking forward to getting back out there."

Monday sees the team out and about in Portgordon from around 6.30pm.

The timetable for this week and next week is (subject to emergency callouts): December 14 – Buckpool, north of Netherha Road; December 15 – South of Netherha Road; December 16 – Findochty; December 17 – Milton Drive area; December 20 – Portessie/Rathven; December 21 – Whispering Meadows area. All collections will start around 6.30pm.

For more information on the collections and other Buckie fire station news, visit the station Facebook page.

Proceeds from the collection will be split between local good causes and the Firefighters' Charity.
