Last Tuesday afternoon saw the alarm raised, believed to have been by a passer-by, to the fire at the rear of a building next to the Marine Hotel.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.29pm on Tuesday, January 18, to reports of a fire within a building in Marine Place, Buckie.

“Operations control immediately mobilised four fire engines to the location and firefighters extinguished the fire.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

Crew from Buckie, Fochabers, Keith and Elgin were called to fight the blaze. Firefighters used breathing apparatus as they battled to extinguish the fire.

The last of the firefighters left the area at around 4.30pm.

Pictures posted on social media sites showed the fire had taken hold in an area to the rear of the building which appeared full of various construction equipment.

It is believed there were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.

Police were also in attendance at the incident.
