Findochty rallies to support Ballater flood victims

VILLAGERS in Findochty have rallied in support of flood victims in Ballater, Aboyne and surrounding communities.

Findochty Primary School has become the focal point for a local aid appeal to help many of those left devastated by the floods in the wake of Storm Frank and subsequent waves of heavy rain.

An appeal went out for a whole range of goods, including tinned or easy to make food, water, toiletries, clothing and footwear.

Banff-based radio station Deveron FM had launched the appeal.

Findochty headteacher Dawn Thomson told the Advertiser the reaction was as swift as it was remarkable.

“The response has been wonderful and is typical of Findochty, which is a tight-knit and supportive community,” she explained. “It’s been an excellent opportunity for the pupils to see citizenship in action and what a community can do together.
