PUPILS at Findochty Primary School made sure they took time to share some festive joy with those at the other end of the age scale.

Kids from across the P1-7 classes made their way to Netherha Care Home in Buckie to spend some time with the residents.

Making the event come to pass took a bit of perseverance, with the snow and ice putting paid to their original plans to pay a visit on Friday, December 16. However, the youngsters were undaunted and finally managed on Thursday, December 22, the last day before the Christmas holidays

Findochty Primary head teacher Dawn Thomson said she was delighted at the way the visit went.

She said: "The visit was an absolute success with all classes visiting and sharing poetry, songs, artwork and spending time chatting to residents.

"The poems the pupils shared were learned as part of our involvement in Poetry Together and we also shared some Christmas songs with them."

Poetry Together is a free initiative that encourages schools and care homes to connect with each other, learn a poem off by heart, and come together to recite. The theme chosen for the project in 2022 was Laughter and Tears.

The visit to Netherha was the latest n a long line of projects undertaken by Findochty Primary to forge cross generational links within the local community.
