The youngsters rolled up their sleeves and organised a tea and toast event in aid of the Scottish Poppy Appeal.

Headteacher Dawn Thomson said: "Our P7 Leadership Team helped run the event serving tea and toast and reading war poetry.

"The children decided to have a tea and toast event as this was, during World War I, a way of raising morale, promoting camaraderie. We wanted to play our part in supporting the poppy appeal and promoting the poppy as a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.

"We were delighted to welcome members of the British Legion to the school to accept the cheque and to talk to the children.

"They enjoyed the visit and the gentlemen have agreed to come back in the new term to speak to classes. The children were full of questions for them."
