TWO local schools paid homage to the Bard in style when they held events to celebrate the birth of Robert Burns.

Covid regulations had put paid to the usual festivities surrounding January 25 over the past two years but this time around kids and staff alike were able to shake of that yoke and have some fun.

At Findochty Primary, the focus was on having a full Burns supper in the school hall.

The pupils themselves very much took the lead in the event.

Once that famous, honest sonsie face was escorted into the hall in style, the youngsters not only set about addressing the haggis with due deference but also delivered toasts which they had written themselves before finally settling down to enjoy some traditional Burns supper food.

Later on in the afternoon a ceilidh was held to which parents were invited.

Meanwhile, over at Cluny Primary something different was on the cards at the end of the school day when the whole school headed for the senior playground. Once there, the pupils performed a mass Military Two Step.

Youngsters were also encouraged to come to school decked in tartan.
