THE work of the emergency services took centre stage recently when the second Findochty Blue Light Festival took place.

The town hall was the place to be on Sunday, October 1 when Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, HM Coastguard and Buckie RNLI were joined by representatives from Police Scotland Youth Volunteers (PSYV).

A variety of displays and emergency vehicles were on show outside the hall while inside there was a mix of stalls from the agencies attending, a raffle and a bottle stall in aid of Buckie and District Cancer Support Group.

Event organiser PC Rory Fraser said: "It went really well and while it wasn't quite as busy as last year's event I reckon we still had around 500 people come along over the course of the day.

"We were also very lucky with the weather.

"There was a total variety of ages who came along – younger folk, older folk and families and they all seemed to enjoy it. It got really busy in two waves, one just after we started at 11am and the other after 1pm.

"The bottle stall sold out and made £387.56. All the bottles were donated so all the money raised will go to the Buckie and District Cancer Support Group.

"It was a very enjoyable and the feedback we've had from the agencies attending has all been positive. We'll definitely be looking at doing it again next year."
