TWO Moray charities have received a three-figure boost for their coffers thanks to a group of Cullen pensioners.
Cancer charity Clan and Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) were both better off to the tune of £450 thanks to a fundraising coffee morning held by Cullen Pensioners Club in July in the Hall Church.
The group's first meeting of the new season saw the cheques handed to Anne Magarin from CHSS and Julie Ferguson from Clan by club president Vera Reid and vice-president Morag Mair respectively.
Mrs Reid said: "We always hold a fundraising coffee morning every year.
"One year the proceeds go to charity and the other year they go towards the club.
"We decided to go for two charities this year, they're both ones whose support our members have been glad of at various times. We try and give as many charities in Moray a turn as we can.
"There was a great turnout at the Hall Church for the coffee morning and we were delighted to have raised £900 for charity."
The group meet on the second Monday of the month Monday from October to April at the Hall Church from 2pm to 4pm, during which there is usually entertainment. They are planning a Scots night in the Cullen Bay in January and have a bus run planned for June.
