There will be a change of venue for the eighth championships on Sunday, March 26 with the Seafield Arms Hotel in the town centre hosting the event.

The contest will be returning after a three-year break due to Covid regulations. Last held in March 2020, the event saw Margaret Macrae from the Buth Bheag seafood shop and takeaway in Kyle of Lochalsh make competition history by claiming both the Traditional Cullen Skink and Cullen Skink with a Twist categories. Both categories will again feature in the forthcoming contest and competitors can enter one or both.

Entrants will be asked to produce two bowls of skink per category.

Judging is undertaken as a blind tasting with the highest score being declared the Cullen Skink World Champion.

The winners of both categories are due to be announced at 4pm.

Spectators are welcome to come along during the day and will also have the opportunity to sample the competition entries.

More information and application forms can be downloaded at www.discovercullen.com –alternatively, email visit@discovercullen.com or call (01542) 841519.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, March 1.
