Last year saw the local art group's Big Community Paint Out enjoy a popular debut and it will be time to get out the brushes and easel on Saturday, June 24.

A non-competitive event, artists of all abilities will be invited to choose their spot in and around Cullen and get painting.

Registration takes place at Cullen harbour office (situated above the public toilets) where names and contact details will be collected as well as an indication of where each artist would like to paint. The cost is £2 for adults and free for under-16s.

Painting time runs from 10am to 3pm, with artists free to use as much or as little of this time as they wish.

All paintings should be handed in by 3pm at the harbour office. Artists should ensure their name is written on the front of the picture and, for under-16s, their age. There will be tea and biscuits on offer.

The art group have said that they are very lucky to have Wendy Hay on board, who has a BA in Fine Art and teaches art at Speyside High School. She will be circulating round the participants during the event along with John Rose, one of the group's very experienced members, and both will be on hand to answer any questions or give painting assistance if required.

Participants may want to bring the following items: Painting materials (any medium); A container for water for your brushes (and a bottle of water to top up?); A board to rest on; A chair/folding table/easel; A packed lunch; Sunscreen/umbrella.

All the paintings will be displayed at Cullen Art Group's Annual Exhibition which runs from Thursday to Sunday, August 10-13.

If the weather forecast is very bad the event will be cancelled the day before. If it is changeable the Community Paint Out will go ahead and people can decide for themselves whether to take part.
