THE community of Findochty turned out in force to support the eagerly awaited return of the annual gala.

Saturday, July 9 saw the community event make its first appearance since 2019, having fallen victim to Covid restrictions both last summer and the summer before.

Crowds flocked to the harbour area where there were stalls aplenty raising fund for a wide variety of community groups. For the more adventurous, there was a bucking bronco to be tamed

Food, drink and ice cream were also on offer, with the Admiral's Inn doing a roaring trade in hamburgers.

For the younger visitors to the gala there was a bouncy castle and a kiddies' cup and saucer ride, not to mention the Tam O' Shanter train.

Jim Murray, one of the gala organisers, said: "The gala was a big success, we're all delighted with the support both local people and visitors showed us.

"It was a pleasant surprise to see so many at the gala and also at the gala dance. Coming back from the Covid pandemic we weren't sure exactly what sort of response we'd get. The weather helped bring the people out, too."

The proceeds from the event are set to be split between the gala committee and local good causes, including the village bowling club.
