NHS confirmed that a small number of cases had been recorded at the community hospital.

A spokeswoman for NHS Grampian said: "We are investigating a number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Seafield Hospital.

"The ward has been closed to new admissions but otherwise the hospital is operating as normal.

"Enhanced cleaning and infection prevention and control measures have been put in place and support is being provided to both patients and staff."

The Minor Injury Unit at the hospital, along with those situated at Turner Hospital in Keith and Dufftown's Stephen Hospital, was closed on April 14 in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Patients requiring treatment for minor injuries are advised to attend the A&E department at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin or the Jubilee Hospital in Huntly.

The temporary closures will be regularly reviewed and local residents kept informed of developments.
