MORAY community groups are being invited to a consultation event focussing on the Scottish Government's proposed Heat in Buildings Bill.

Run by tsiMoray, the event will allow those attending to find out more about the proposals, ask questions and give feedback about how these might affect them and their community.

The proposed legislation is based around the heating and energy efficiency of existing homes and workplaces.

Under the new law, should it be passed, it is envisaged that: All homes and businesses will have to move to a clean heating system by the end of 2045; People buying new homes and buildings before 2045 would be asked to move to a clean heating system within a set period after the sale; Minimum energy efficiency standards for all homes by the end of 2033, to make them warmer and less expensive to heat – private landlords would need to do this by the end of 2028.

The Moray consultation event is due to be held on Thursday, February 22 at Elgin Town Hall from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. To book a free place, visit https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/
