Cullen Art Group is organising the Cullen Big Community Paint Out, which they hope will encourage people to enjoy art and take part in a friendly, informal community event. There will be no judging and therefore no winner, with everyone who takes part will be considered a winner.

Registration gets under way at the community centre on Saturday, June 25 between 9am and 10am, where in addition to names and contact details indications of where each person wishes to paint will be collected. Registration costs £2 for adults and is free for under-16s.

The first section of the programme for the day is painting time, which runs from 10am-2pm. Participants can use as little or as much of this as they please.

All paintings to be handed in by 3pm at the community centre and should have the artist's name written on the front of the picture and, for under-16s, their age. There will be tea and biscuits on offer and a little sweetie for everyone.

There are three painting locations on offer, which give very different slants on the scenery surrounding the town..

The first is between the pet cemetery and the golf club. Some benches are available along the road and by the beach and a few picnic tables. There are public toilets at the harbour and next to the golf club.

For a more elevated view, head up Castle Hill where there are benches on the hill as well as along the line and a few picnic tables. There are no toilets at this location.

The final location is at the Auld Kirk. There are plenty of places to sit and there may be toilet provision on the day.

Participants are asked to bring: Painting materials (any medium); A container for water for brushes; A board to rest on; A chair/folding table/easel if required; A packed lunch; A sunscreen/umbrella if needed.

Cullen Art Group are also delighted to announce that they will have Wendy Hay, who has a BA in Fine Art and teaches Art at Lossiemouth High School, circulating round the participants during the event along with John Rose, one of the group's very experienced members. Both will be on hand to answer any questions or give any painting assistance if required. On the following Saturday, July 2, the group will be holding a coffee morning at the community centre where all the paintings will be displayed.
