GRASS root organisations are being invited to apply for cash from a new marine conservation fund.
The Sea-Changers Marine Conservation Social Fund aims to support beneficial marine conservation approaches and solutions. The fund is particularly interested in projects that support or enhance participants’ health and wellbeing through marine conservation activity.
It sits alongside Sea-Changers' existing Main Grants Fund, which seeks to address the root causes of marine conservation threats and challenges in the UK.
The 2021 Social Fund totals £13,000 and is made possible by a single donation to Sea-Changers. Of particular interest are pilot programmes that, following careful evaluation, might be continued, expanded and/or replicated with additional funding in future years, subject to Sea-Changers securing such funding.
It is expected that three or four projects will receive cash from the 2021 funding pot, so grant requests should be in the region of £3000-£4000.
Applications are welcomed from a wide range of UK based organisations, including charities and not-for-profit organisations and community groups. Sea-Changers actively encourage applications for projects that may be formed through partnerships between marine conservation organisations and social welfare organisations.
The closing date for applications is October 31.
