Receiving £710.64 from the car dealership's Change for Charity scheme, the money is pegged to go towards constructing a new feature to aid Buckie's Keep Scotland Beautiful effort.

Meg Jamieson, chairwoman of Buckie's Roots said: "It's great to get this money, just absolutely fantastic.

"I wasn't really expecting it at all, so it makes a massive difference.

"We are hoping to use this money to produce a feature in the square.

"Arnold Clark are making a big difference in Buckie, even if they don't know it."

Arnold Clark's Change for Charity scheme is an optional scheme that lets employees donate the change from their paychecks to a nominated local charity.

Since the introduction of Change for Charity in 2019 it has raised £53,000 for over 70 charities.

The nomination of Buckie's Roots for the grant was made by Abbey Emmett, Mrs Jamieson's granddaughter.

Ms Emmett said: "Meg is my nana, so when we got the email that said we were raising money at work, I thought of her and Buckie's Roots.

"Now I'm just worried I'll have that every time there is any fundraising going on."

Mrs Jamieson replied: "Not that any twisting of arms gone on though, not yet at least."

The 2022 grant was the second time Buckie's Roots have received funding from Arnold Clark, as they received £1000 last year.

Aileen Anderson, a customer experience coordinator at Arnold Clark Elgin, is the chairperson of the think customer team, which organises the donations.

She said it was "amazing" to be able to help local charities.

Ms Anderson said: "Since 2019, Arnold Clark have donated about £53,000 to over 70 charities across the charities across the UK.

"We all nominated a few charities in the local area, and Abbey nominated her nana's charity Buckie's Roots which was picked out of a hat as one of the winning charities.

"You wouldn't think that handing over pennies could raise £53,000 over three years.

"It just seems a bizarre amount really, it is amazing.

"The donation to Buckie's Roots isn't a huge donation but they have said it can make a huge difference to their work and that is great.

"It is just amazing to be able to give something to such a great local group."
