THE final touches are being put to this year's Buckie panto extravaganza, Treasure Island.
Buckie Community Theatre Group will be bringing Robert Louis Stevenson's timeless tale to the town's North Church Hall over Thursday to Saturday, February 8-10
The performances will mark a return to the venue after a successful switch to the church hall last year.
This year's run of shows will also be special to the theatre group as it marks their 65th year of putting together their annual panto which remains one of the major local community events of the year for young and old alike.
Stevenson's story tells the tale of an impulsive and adventurous young boy named Jim Hawkins who comes across a treasure map. He goes on a journey to try and recover the treasure, which once belonged to the famous Captain Flint. On his journey, he meets Long John Silver, a one-legged cook who ends up leading a pirate mutiny.
Bringing the iconic pirate Long John Silver to life will be theatre group stalwart Pauline McIntosh, with Ollie taking on the role of Jim Hawkins.
The group's artistic director Kevin Oakes is set to bring his own inimitable style again to the North Church hall sage when he assumes the role of the show's dame, Ophelia Plums – expect a saucy joke or two along the way.
Meanwhile, Holly Allardice will portray Audrey, Gemma Archibald is Seymour and old sea dog Billy Bones will be played by Sara Chiappa. Taking on the roles of the sirens are Audrey Gray and Leah Hay.
The Thursday and Friday performances get under way at 7.30pm with the doors opening at 7pm. Curtain up at the Saturday matinee is 2pm – doors open at 1.30pm – with the evening performance also seeing the doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Tickets cost £10 and can be ordered from the Buckie Community Theatre Group Facebook page or by phoning (01542) 488485.
The theatre group have expressed their gratitude to the public for their ongoing financial support throughout the year which makes the panto and other productions possible.
