Buckie Library is set to host a special display at the beginning of next month to highlight the local people who made the ultimate sacrifice

Local historian David Fowler has created a display featuring the names of all 424 of the fallen in World Wars I and II and set them onto 94 of the streets and districts of Buckie.

The relatives and members of the public are invited to come into the library and attach a red poppy near to a name or names as they wish. If a group wishes to attend, they are asked to contact the librarian beforehand on (01542) 832121 or via email at buckie.library@moray.gov.uk

The display is set to run from Thursday, November 3 to Thursday, November 10.

Buckie library's opening hours are: Monday 10am-8pm; Tuesday 10am-5pm; Wednesday 10am-8pm; Thursday 10am-5pm; Friday closed; Saturday 10am-12 noon.

Among Mr Fowler's many contributions to recording the history of Buckie and the surrounding area was a set of five books detailing the indoor war memorials in five churches in the town. Almost 300 of the fallen are honoured on these memorials.

His journey started at the North Church before expanding to take in the memorials at the South and West, St Peter's, Rathven and Lodge Gordon's 589.
