Banffshire and Buchan Coast MSP Karen Adam said: "I am absolutely delighted to hear of another successful win for Buckie Ladies.

"I was wearing my Buckie Ladies top with pride at the weekend that I was honoured to receive as a gift. Having met with them and seeing first-hand their skills in action I have no doubt this is one in a very long line of successes for them.

"I am incredibly proud to see women’s sport take such a positive place in the constituency and see these wonderful examples of young women working hard and reaping the rewards. Well done and hud gan' ladies!"

Moray MP Douglas Ross – who is an assistant referee in his spare time and regularly runs the line at matches all over Scotland, described the team as an "inspiration".

He continued: “I’m delighted for Laura Duncan and the whole team on this amazing feat, they have worked so hard, and this is a remarkable achievement for the players, and the whole club, especially the fact that they came from a goal down to win the cup final.

“I’m sure that I join the whole town in congratulating them on their well-earned success and to more future wins. They are an inspiration for many people in football, and women’s football in particular.”
