THE future of schools in the Buckie area is to take centre stage at two forthcoming drop-in sessions.

Moray Council has launched the second phase of its engagement to address the sustainability challenges of their current learning estate, focusing on Buckie Associated School Group (ASG).

The engagement aims to examine a number of factors, including the use, occupancy, suitability and condition of all Moray schools. The goal is to deliver a modern, fit-for-purpose and affordable learning estate for communities across Moray.

The roll out of other ASG focused engagement across Moray will continue over the next 18 months.

Local residents in the Buckie ASG are invited to participate in an online survey where they can share their views and opinions on what they want from their schools. Local opinions are vital to help shape the future of the learning estate in the area. This survey runs until March 8, 2024.

Community drop-in sessions will be held at Buckie’s Fishermen’s Hall on February 26 from 11am-6pm and Cullen Library on February 27 from 2.30-7pm. This a chance for anyone who wishes to discuss and share their thoughts in-person to come along and speak with the team.

Chair of Moray Council’s education, children’s services and leisure committee, Councillor Kathleen Robertson, said: “In order to provide the best educational opportunities for all children and young people in Moray we must ensure our learning estate is fit for 21st century learning.

"Input from our local community is vital in helping to make decisions for a sustainable future of our learning estate and I would encourage everyone to get involved with the online engagement.”
