RESIDENTS at two Buckie care homes came together to celebrate the Bard's birthday in style.

Covid regulations may have cramped their style over the last couple of years, but there were to be no such restraints this time around as the residents of Parkland and Burnbank paid tribute to Scotland's very own Robert Burns.

The joint event for the two care homes got under way just after lunch at around 2pm on a musical note.

Residents were delighted to welcome students from Buckie Community High School and they went on to enjoy the musical performance given by the youngsters.

At around 5.30pm it was time to get knives and forks at the ready for the Burns supper itself.

Making a grand entrance to the proceedings with no little fanfare was none other than the great chieftain o' the puddin' race itself as the haggis was carried in by resident Jocky Sandison, accompanied to the skirl of the pipes played by Ross Arnott.

The address to the haggis was carried out with aplomb by Malcolm Risk.

Also on hand to lend a sense of occasion was Highland dancer Farrah Watkins before the residents took great pleasure in tucking into the traditional Burns supper fair of haggis, neeps and tatties.
