A BUCKIE woman is set to hold a charity walk to help celebrate the first anniversary of her business offering yoga classes to women of all ages.

Katie Duncan-Bruce set up Yogabellies Moray with Katie last year and with 12 months successfully under her belt, she is aiming to mark the milestone by raising cash for LATNEM (Let's All Talk North East Mums). The charity offers a range of peer support for mums and birthing people across the north-east.

All are welcome to join her and group members on a sponsored walk from Buckie to Cullen on Saturday, March 4 to help reach – and hopefully smash – the £500 fundraising target she has set.

Katie said: "SATNEM is a charity which is completely aligned with what I'm trying to do through my classes, they provide invaluable support for mums and birthing people across the north-east.

"The proudest moment of my life was the birth of my twin sons but it was a challenging pregnancy, both mentally and physically. Following my C-section I had to undergo a further two abdominal surgeries, including a full muscle repair for Diastasis Recti.

"I felt really isolated as there wasn't a lot of support available – ultimately it led me to becoming a yoga teacher and then setting up Yogabellies Moray with Katie."

Studying to become a yoga teacher and then opening her own business proved to be a complete change of tack from her previous life for Katie, who BA (Hons) in Dance and a Diploma in Live Events and Promotions.

She said: "Previous I worked as a dance teacher, performer and in various production and management roles all over the world, including in Singapore where I was a choreographer.

"Before I moved back up to Buckie last year after 17 years away I was working full-time in the central belt."

Her successes over the course of the last 12 months have included making the finals of the Best Emerging Business category in the Moray Businesswomen Awards 2022.

Katie added that all are welcome to come along and join in the anniversary fundraiser, which will set off from the Drifter car park in Buckie at 11am on March 4 and head for Cullen along the cycle path. It is expected the walk will take in the order of two hours, although there is no pressure to finish the walk.

As there will be mums with buggies participating, a stop-off for feeding/changing will be on offer at the Admiral's in Findochty.

Those intending to take part are asked to register beforehand on the Just Giving page – https://www.justgiving.com/team/morayladies – where donations to the cause can also be made or visit www.kdbenergy.com
