BROADBAND problems in Buckie will be discussed at a public meeting on Friday.

The meeting, called by Moray MP Angus Robertson and set to be chaired by Advertiser editor Chris Saunderson, is due to get under way at 7pm in the Buckie Town House upper hall.

Buckie Councillor Sonya Warren is in no doubt that real problems have been faced by both domestic and commercial broadband users who were promised that a superfast service was available in the town.

"I’ve had so many people get in touch with me over the broadband service in Buckie, even more so since the public meeting was announced. A lot of people feel they have been seriously shortchanged on the promises made by BT that a superfast service was in place in Buckie."

The meeting is open to all and will be in three sections. The audience will be invited to share their views on broadband issues in the area, followed by a section dedicated to wi-fi and mobile phone matters. An open discussion will round off the evening, which is scheduled to finish by 9pm.
