AN anniversary fundraising walk has handed a boost of almost £2000 to the coffers of a north-east mums' charity.

Buckie woman Katie Duncan-Bruce decided to celebrate the first birthday of her business Yogabellies Moray with Katie – which offers yoga classes to women of all ages – by doing a charity walk from Buckie to Cullen on Saturday, March 4.

Around 30 adults and youngsters in all gathered at the Drifter car park in Buckie to follow the old railway footpath, stopping off at the Admiral's Inn at Findochty for feeding/changing and snacks. Some walkers joined the event at this stage.

Their combined efforts have smashed the original fundraising target set by Katie of £500, with a grand total of £1800 being collected for LATNEM (Let's All Talk North East Mums). The charity offers a range of peer support for mums and birthing people across the north-east.

A delighted Katie said: "I'm so chuffed with the amount we've raised and would like to say a big 'thank you' to everyone who took part or donated.

"To get £1800 is unreal.

"It's also helped raise awareness of the the pre and post-natal support provided by LATNEM.

"It was a really good day and a great turnout with 30 folk and five dogs, too. We all helped one another along and, after a short hailstorm right at the start, the weather was quite kind to us."

Katie went on to voice her thanks to caterers Heiland Coo and the Admiral's Inn for their support at the beginning and mid-point of the walk respectively.

Buoyed by the success of the walk, Katie is planning a further fundraiser for LATNEM next month in the form of a Women's Wellness Event due to take place at Portessie Public Hall on Sunday, April 16. The session will feature a number of different wellbeing practitioners, with all proceeds from the event going to the charity.

The event is free to attend but those intending to pop along are asked to register at https://www.kdbenergy.com/events
