Body of missing Findochty man John Loughrie identified





POLICE Scotland have confirmed that the body of a man recovered off the coast off Portsoy is that of missing Findochty man John Loughrie.

His body was discovered on Friday, March 6.

Mr Loughrie's death is not being treated as suspicious and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The 51-year-old had been reported missing from the Findochty area on Sunday, February 9.

His disappearance sparked a huge search operation in the area in an attempt to trace him.

Initial investigations uncovered Mr Loughrie's grey Ford Ranger truck on Church Street in the village as the search intensified. Police were joined by members from other emergency services, including the Coastguard and RNLI. Drones were also utilised in the bid to find Mr Loughrie.
