Hosted by SQA, ‘Flair’ showcases some of the most creative work submitted by learners in the latest school session, spanning Art and Design, Fashion and Textile Technology, and Photography courses.

The pieces were produced by learners from across the country who were working towards National 4 to Advanced Higher courses at the time and span a range of grades, and include paintings, sculptures, architecture, and fashion pieces.

Many of the artworks were inspired by the issues and those facing young people today, such as climate change, mental health, and the pandemic. Learners were also inspired by the work of other artists and designers that they have studied.

One of those featuring in the exhibition is photography from Buckie Community High School student Brooke.

She said: “I was inspired to photograph coastlines as I wanted to explore my local area and capture the unsung beauty of it.

"As I live in the north-east, I am very privileged be surrounded by stunning coastal features like the Bow Fiddle Rock, and I wanted to show it off to other people who don’t think this area is as beautiful as I do.”

Fiona Robertson, SQA Chief Executive, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to all the learners who have kindly agreed to have their artwork, produced in 2021-22, displayed in our online gallery to support the achievement of SQA qualifications in Art and Design, Fashion and Textile Technology, and Photography.

"The skill, originality and creative expression of learners across Scotland is very evident and it is a pleasure to see."

The online gallery is available to view at http://www.flair.sqa.org.uk

As well as the local students, it features artworks from young people all over Scotland.
